About

About-img-1

In May of 1993, I hung out my shingle as the Bankruptcy Law Office of Robert Weed.  I had graduated from the University of Maryland Law School–with honors–a few years before, working in government full-time and going to school at night.

I decided to focus on bankruptcy law for two reasons. First, after working in politics and government, I wanted to do something with my law degree where I could help people.  Second, I had gotten the best grade in my bankruptcy law class; they gave me the AmJur prize.

(In between doing politics, I worked for a small law firm in Baltimore and Glen Burnie, Maryland, where I did bankruptcy, traffic, some divorce law, and a little bit of everything.)

Because I wanted to focus on bankruptcy law, I joined the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, just the second year after they were founded. Over the years, I’ve participated in more than two dozen NACBA national programs.

(Three times NACBA recognized my work with awards: Distinguished Service in 2003, Member of the Month in 2006, and the Hammes-Schulman Award in 2019.)

I’ve also been active since 2003 in the American Bankruptcy Institute.  (The ABI is more focused on business bankruptcy law.)

I’m also a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates.  NACA includes lawyers who specialize in credit reporting law, fair debt collection violations, and truth in lending.  Knowing more about those areas has helped me give good advice to my clients and be a better bankruptcy lawyer.

Over the course of my career, I have worked with more than fifteen thousand people.

I love being a bankruptcy lawyer. I meet a lot of good people and I can help almost everyone I talk to.
